Not quite sure if I posted about this last week....
I had to take Emma back to the doctor's last Tuesday for what I suspected would be another ear infection. Sure enough the doctor said she was well on her way to getting another one. He went ahead and prescribed another antibiotic (Augmentim...a amoxicillin based drug) and sent us on our way.
Keep in mind that yet again this happened when Daddy was out of town. During that same week, I had to have a suspicious mole removed from my stomach (we'll find out those results sometime this week), was urged to get a surgicial consult regarding a lump in my thigh, had a tree fall across the driveway (which a neighbor had to come and chain-saw into pieces for me), and of course I came home one day to find Charlie had had diarrhea all over the house (apparently he got some sort of stomach bug and after a few doses of antibiotics is doing just fine!)
Flash forward to Tuesday morning....Luke points out that E's got what looks like a few bug bites on her legs and arms. A little suspicous since she was fine when she went to bed but hey, it could happen I guess. I told the daycare center when I dropped her off that morning and told them to call me if it got any worse. When I went to pick her up they informed me that it had indeed gotten worse.....significantly worse....
After a quick run to the doctors, it turns out this little girl inherited her Daddy's allergy to all
" -cillin" based antibiotics! She's now been taken off the augmentim, put on a steriod and Benadryl....what a day! We are suppose to keep her on the Benadryl every four hours but it completely knocks her out so we're giving it only at nap and bedtime...downfall being that as soon as the Benadryl leaves her system, more of these hives appear :( Hopefully after three days on the steroids she'll be fine!!
Quicky update on me....after a year of having this lump in my thigh, I finally got around to seeing someone about it. Unfortunately they don't know what it is but what to remove it as soon as possible and have it tested....so I've got surgery scheduled for next Thursday!
