I totally have a 7-10 page paper due in a little less than 12 hours but instead I've decided to work on the blog....seriously, my priorities are a little out of whack these days! No worries, I'll get it done sometime!
Anyway, we had a wonderful weekend despite the blistering cold weather. Luke's parents came down for a weekend visit and boy did we cram in a lot of activities. (I'll post on those things a little later!)
First up...our trip to the Tree Farm in search of the perfect Christmas Tree!
I know it sounds a little crazy but it turned out to be a good time and something I think we'll do for years to come :0)
Unfortunately Emma didn't seem to share Mom's enthusiasm...here she is in MAJOR meltdown mode during the first five minutes of this "fun" experience.
Lucky for us she eventually calmed down but insisted on being held the entire time.
After a long and thorough search we found "the one". I do have to say this though... I've always been a Fraser Fir tree girl; I love the way they smell, the sturdiness of the limbs, etc. but apparently the soil is not right in this area for growing them :( So sacrifice made, I reluctantly went with a White Pine. While these are actually pretty trees, they do NOT smell at all like a Christmas tree which is a totally disappointment.
Oh, did I mention that we'd be doing the cutting!!
Luke was totally convinced that we needed to bring our own chainsaw along for this adventure but I think quickly agreed that that might have been a bit over the top. Needless to say a hand-saw worked just fine and even Emma got to help cut the tree down.
She looks so thrilled doesn't she!
So despite the cold, the major meltdown and an overly eager chainsaw, happy husband, I think we all had a great time!
So here it is...the finished project...not to shabby although I did lose a beautiful ornament to this tree already :(
More Christmas festivities to come...
