A Gingerbread House

Despite the fact that Emma is still quite young for a gingerbread house activity, its doesn't seem like Christmas with a child in the house without one. So, after a trip to Walmart I thought I had found the perfect compromise....a pre-baked, Wilton gingerbread house kit that included the icing and candy decorations.
In a million years I never thought to open the box once I got home (seriously, I bought the darn thing in October) but needless to say, that decision or lack there of came back to bite me in the butt this past weekend.
Still thrilled over our tree excursion I decided to continue the Christmas fun once we got home. Upon opening the box I was deeply saddened to find that the pre-assemble house was crushed to pieces :( Discouraged but not willing to give up, I pulled out the old glue-gun and went to work like a construction worker with his spackle! An hour later....gingerbread house up to code :)
While it obviously doesn't look perfect, it doesn't matter. Emma and Abuela had a great time decorating and I'm proud to say that not once did my child even try to eat the "decorations"! (Apparently she's still in the dark when it comes to the candy issue.)

One more post from the weekend to come and a whole lot more to come over the next two weeks!
Happy Monday!
