Snow Storm 2010

Amazingly the South saw quite a bit of snow this year! While we didn't come close to the record breaking numbers in DC, MD and VA...we did break a few NC records. Luckily we were smart enough to purchase a generator two winters ago and while we hadn't needed them up until this year, it was a blessing to have since we were stuck without power for over 24 hours, with a child who was running 103 temp. Talk about a fun time :)
I can't remember the total snowfall we saw on this particular storm (we had a couple different storms this winter) but I can say that we still have snow in our yard despite the 63 degree weather we had today!!
I wasn't able to get any cute/fun pictures of E this snow storm because she was way too sick to venture outside, but I did manage to capture a few of the chaos and fun during/after the storm.

A perfect turkey footprint in one of our fields. It was pretty neat to see all the animals footprints. Right next to this one was also quite a few deer tracks.
The first tree casualty of the storm

The second casualty only moments after we were standing just a few feet away clearing the first tree.

And the third and fourth ones in the front fields. We also had one fall along the main road, luckily it was a little one.

Our weeping magnolia tree.

The power source for our electricity, water, and entertainment

The tree that almost crushed E's playground

Gotta love that ice!

Thanks to our generator and wood stove we survived the storm and lack of electricity. We are patiently (well trying at least) awaiting warmer weather and the spring!
Hope you all stayed safe and warm in your winter wonderlands as well.
