I know, I know....its been so long since I've blogged and so much has happened that I don't even know if I can recap it all, but I'll give it a shot over a couple of blogs ;)
First and foremost, Emma is doing well. She is in the middle of cutting her bottom molars and trying to finish up cutting her top ones; so she's a little moody these days! She is growing like a weed (don't know her most recent stats but we've got her 15 month check-up at the end of the month....I can't wait to find out.) and continues to amaze Luke and I each and every day.
She has begun to say a few words; "night-night", "dirt", "nana", and "no-no" but still uses her signs for most of what she wants to communicate. We estimate that she knows about 30-35 signs; the newest ones being, "sleepy", "airplane", and "horse".
Okay, on to the good stuff...... About two weeks ago I got a phone call from a daycare center that we had looked at back in December (napping was still an issue then and I was at my wits end.) They told me that they had an opening and asked if we were still interested. Now don't get me wrong, I've LOVED being able to stay home with Emma these past 14 months....BUT, my schooling has definitely taken a back seat and if I don't find a job soon I'm going to lose my CNA license....all of which is completely fine with me but I had a feeling that Emma needed more the secluded country life was giving her.....
So, we scheduled a visit that week and went to just "take a look." The first visit wasn't exactly a big hit with us but there was a little confusion on the center's part and the next day all was clarified. We decided we'd go for another visit (again that same week) and we were definitely impressed with what we saw this time. We spent an hour in the "1-2 year old room"; E seemed to really enjoy herself, we were sold on the idea (at least to give it a try) and so E was set to start May 4th.
Four days later we were welcomed into life with a child in daycare when we woke up to little Miss running a 103.0 fever. We took her to the doctor that day and she was diagnosised with a form of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease....fun stuff!! After two days of running a now 104.0 plus fever and not eating or drinking we then experienced what we thought was a case of the chicken pox (the daycare had called to tell us there had been a few cases to pop-up since we had visited). Luckily it turned out not to be the chicken pox and just a rash from the virus. All this from an hour visit to the daycare center....Luke and I were now defnitely scared of what it would be like once she started full time.....
So I know I've probably written too much as it is so I'll try and sum up the rest pretty quick and get to the pictures! Needless to say, E mended and started her first day this past Monday.
I couldn't resist the idea of a "before and after" picture!
So here she is the morning of her first day.
And "after" her first day with only a half an hour nap all day!!!
Her mood, believe it or not, was great for only a half an hour nap all day....though she crashed HARD that night.
Overall the week went as expected. Each day Emma seemed to get a little bit better with the concept of Mommy leaving her and by Friday she even surprised us by sleeping almost two hours at naptime (what a pleasent surprise!) She is definitely still adjusting to the changes but we think she's done amazingly well. Unfortnately her little immune system isn't handling the change so well and she's sick again...at least its only a cold this time :)
More to come :)
